Holiday on the Schmittenhöhe
Experience a peaceful night on the mountain in the Pinzgau region
How to get there in winter:
Because we cannot be reached by car in winter due to our quiet, isolated position, there is a parking space in winter for our guests staying overnight at the Areit P4 valley station; from which you can reach the Schmittenhöhe by mountain lift; at the Kapellenbahn valley station, an approx. 800m-long flat ski route leads to our wonderful mountain lodge.
In order to reach our lodge in comfort, you should ride up with the Areitbahn 1 to get to our lodge.
You can simply hand in your luggage to the Schmittenbahn 3 mountain station for a small fee; it is then transported by us personally to the lodge.
The return path to the Kapellenbahn mountain lift is organised by us free of charge; an adventure of a very special kind – you will be pulled up the moderate part of the ski piste again using a motor-driven sledge.
Ski tourers and snow shoe hikers can reach the lodge after a 2-hour climb from Piesendorf.
How to get there in summer:
In summer, there are numerous possibilities as to how you can get to us.
- The fastest way is using the Schmittenbahn mountain lift, in the middle of Zell am See, to approximately 2000 metres above sea level, then hiking approximately 45 minutes to the lodge. In good weather, our lodge is already visible at the mountain station. The well-signposted hiking paths will lead you directly and safely to our isolated mountain lodge.
It is possible to park near the church in Piesendorf, and a limited number of parking spaces are available below the barrier at Wengerberg/Saulehen. From the Areitbahn mountain lift Section I – Breiteckalm (alpine restaurant) – Pfaffenkendlsteig (ascent) - approx. 2 h
- Via Walchen – Forstweg (forest path) - approx. 2.5 h
